Tasmanian Blackwood Quarter

$0.00

Tasmanian blackwood, quarter cut: a golden to medium red-brown with a fine, straight ribbon stripe and a silky lustre.

Botanical name: Acacia melanoxylon

Blackwood is diffuse porous, fine and even, and the quarter cut shows a straight, subtle ribbon with a silky lustre. A warm red-brown with no open pores is blackwood rather than walnut. The Tasmanian stock runs redder and more uniform than the Queensland. Grown in Tasmania.

Also held as edging. Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
