Queensland walnut, quarter cut: a mid brown with darker chocolate and black streaking and a bold, ribboned figure. Walnut-like but with more streak contrast.
Botanical name: Endiandra palmerstonii
Queensland walnut is moderately coarse in texture with strong, often dramatic streaking. It is genuinely walnut-like but is not American walnut, carrying more contrast and a more Australian character. Grown in the rainforests of north Queensland.
Also held as edging. Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
