Oregon (Douglas fir), quarter cut: an orange-tan to pink-brown with fine, straight, closely spaced growth lines.
Botanical name: Pseudotsuga menziesii
On the quarter cut the strong growth rings of Oregon read as a fine, regular stripe. A softwood with high contrast between earlywood and latewood. Grown in north-western North America.
Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
