New Guinea rosewood: a warm golden to mid brown with darker stripes and a moderately coarse, interlocked ribbon figure.
Botanical name: Pterocarpus indicus
A tropical hardwood with a strong, flowing stripe, rich and golden. Grown in Papua New Guinea and south-east Asia.
Also held as edging. Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
