Ironbark Crown

$0.00

Australian ironbark, crown cut: a dense, fine-textured timber in a cool grey-brown with a soft, mottled shimmer.

Ironbark covers a wide colour range, from pale greyish brown, sometimes with a mauve cast, through to deep red-brown. The grain is interlocked, giving a soft mottled or ribbon shimmer that wanders across the face. Growth rings are indistinct, so the crown cut reads quieter than the arches of an oak or walnut. It is easily mistaken for American walnut: look for the interlocked shimmer rather than defined growth rings.

Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
