Australian brushbox, quarter cut: a soft pinkish to greyish brown with a very fine, even texture. Quiet and uniform.
Botanical name: Lophostemon confertus
Brushbox is a dense, fine-grained eucalypt relative with a subtle interlocked ribbon on the quarter cut. The face is calm and consistent, a pinkish brown that suits a job wanting warmth without strong figure. Grown on the east coast of Australia.
Also held as edging. Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
