Blackbutt Quarter

$0.00

An Australian eucalypt, quarter cut: pale straw to light golden brown, fairly plain and even, with the straight parallel grain the quarter cut gives. A quiet, light-toned native for a job that wants timber without a dominant pattern.

Botanical name: Eucalyptus pilularis

Quarter cutting takes the leaf radially, so the grain runs straight and parallel down the sheet instead of arching: the figure is calm and regular, and the four setouts read far more alike than they do on a crown. Grown along the east coast of Australia. Natural feature grade (NFG) leaves the gum veins and knots in; the Face grade is the clean select.

Pressed on G2S and DGB/BAMO backings. Also held as edging. Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
