A figured Australian blackbutt with a mottled, wavering pattern in warm grey-brown: a feature face for a job that wants shimmer and movement.
Botanical name: Eucalyptus pilularis
Figured blackbutt shows an irregular, cloudy figure that shifts as the light moves across it, quite different from the calm, even look of plain blackbutt. Every leaf is different, so it is chosen for the character of the face rather than for consistency.
Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
