An Australian eucalypt, crown cut: pale straw to light golden brown with soft cathedral figure, fairly plain and even. A light, calm native timber.
Botanical name: Eucalyptus pilularis
Blackbutt is a pale, slightly yellow eucalypt with a fine to medium texture. The crown cut gives soft arched figure where the quarter cut gives straight lines. Grown along the east coast of Australia. NFG (natural feature grade) leaves the gum veins and knots in; the Face grade is the clean select.
Also held as edging. Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
