Am Oak Rift

$0.00

American white oak, Rift cut: a tight, even, straight pinstripe with the ray fleck deliberately avoided. The cleanest, most linear oak Ventech holds.

Botanical name: Quercus alba

Rift cutting runs the saw at an angle to the rays, so the leaf shows straight, parallel grain without the silver fleck of a quarter cut or the arches of a crown. It is the most expensive of the oak cuts and is chosen where a job wants calm, regular lines. Oak is ring porous, so the pores still run in fine lines along the grain. Grown in the eastern United States.

Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
