American cherry, quarter cut: a warm pink-brown with fine straight grain and a satiny lustre.
Botanical name: Prunus serotina
The quarter cut shows American cherry's fine, even texture as straight parallel lines, with the small dark gum flecks the timber is known for. It darkens to a richer red-brown as it ages. Grown in the eastern United States.
Also held as edging. Leaves are generally available from 2500 to 3600 mm long. 3600 mm is always in short supply and needs its availability checked before it is specified. Natural timber, so it never repeats and colour and figure vary log to log: match a continuing job to the original order rather than to this page.
